Today I had my first doctor appointment in Texas. It had been almost a month since my last appointment in South Dakota so I was anxious to see how things were going. The first part was the dreaded scale. Since we have been traveling I hadn't seen a scale for almost a month. Let's just say that I have never weighed this much before and leave it at that. During my exam I was measured, and told that I was measuring big. I was sent to get a round of lab work done and was told that most likely they will have to take the baby a couple of weeks early because of his size. Normally a pregnant woman would be thrilled to be done a couple of weeks early, but we are trying to keep this kiddo in up to his due date so that we can move in to our house and actually have baby stuff ready. Everything is in storage right now. Not the best news, but other than that everything else looks good. While I was waiting in the lab, several people asked me when I was due. When I told them that I had five more weeks to go people looked shocked and couldn't believe that I had that much more to go. Then I was asked if I was having a boy or a girl. When I replied that I was having my third boy, some people said they were sorry that I wasn't having a girl. I told them I wasn't. That shocked me. A little girl asked me how the baby got in my tummy, and I wasn't sure how to answer that so I told her to ask her mom. On my way out of the hospital while I was waiting for an elevator a man asked me if I was having twins. By this time I was sick of people asking me weird questions about my size so I told him no, I'm just really big. He didn't seem to think that his question was inappropriate.
To sum up here is a list of questions not to ask a pregnant woman:
1.How did that baby get in your tummy?
2. When are you due? (normally ok, but don't look shocked when she tells you when.)
3. Are you having a boy or a girl? (again normally ok, but don't feel sorry for the poor woman if it isn't what you think she wanted. She might actually be happy with what she is getting!)
4.Are you having twins? (it just makes the woman feel fat!)
5. this isn't a question, because strangers never ask, but don't rub a woman's belly under any circumstance unless she says it is ok.

WOW! That all happened in one visit?! First of all, you honestly do look amazing. I got all of the comments you got too; what's wrong with people? Just when you can't feel any fatter losers like that open their mouths :( I can't stand it when people are upset when they get a certain sex. They got pregnant, didn't they - you're blessed to even be pregnant people, get over it!!!! Anyhoo, that's really crappy that you might have to deliver early. Don't you just hate not having control over anything? Well, good luck with everything; I hope it all works out well!
I was in the commissary with Kimmee and Keira and hugely pregnant with Krista, when a sweet old man walked by me. He stopped, turned around, and said, "Oh, I hope you're having another girl." I told him I was and he went on and on about how beautiful my girls were and how the next one would be just as pretty. I was shocked since all I had heard since finding out the sex was, "Oh, sorry you're not getting your boy." So this random grandpa totally made my day! I completely agree with you - people shouldn't assume anything when it comes to pregnancy.
But you do look great!
Mary, just for the record, you are not huge. If you think you are big you should have seen me when I was pregnant. Just know that people are idots sometimes and chalk up to stupidity. I hope that you are able to get settled in before the appearance of your third bouncing baby boy. I can only imagine the comments my mom use to get. She had five boys before having me and then had another boy. Some people just do not realize what a blessing a child is. We all miss you guys, but I am sure you are glad to be in warmer weather.
Mary you are just beautiful! I love your new shirt. You really are a cute prego woman! you don't even look big! I miss you so much! It is so good to see a picture of you! I love you Mary! And one last thing....How did that baby get in your tummy? I love it! Too funny!
Oh Mary what a trip. Obnoxious people are everywhere. Congrats on your new house and arriving in Texas. Right now I wish I were there with you. These storms are overated!!Miss you!
I think you look great! I love pregnant bellies!
Some people should just never open their mouths. Hey, I'm one of those people. I was really hoping you would have a girl and I know I told you that after you found out it was a boy. Sorry! I am really happy for you though! :) Good luck with the next few weeks!
ps. We had a girls night out the other night Me, Kendra and Amanda A. I really missed you!! :(
hi mary, i couldnt help laughing at all those question, i've so been there, you probably know how big i was with dylan, and even with joshaura people were asking me if i was having tweens...and its ok to have just boys, i mean, having a daughter is really fun, but boys are easier and and they are so sweet, daughters are great but believe me they are way more trouble, so if you ever face those questions again just ignore them, people just have a "rude" built in system, we are very happy that everything went good, all of you look very happy and that is what matters,,,be good
