A Trip to Utah's Heritage Park

Yesterday we had a great time touring Utah's Heritage Park. We went with my sister-in-law Jenny, her husband Ken, my niece Elizabeth, my nephew Nate, their Grandma Cox, and their uncle Trevor. It was a really cold day at a high of 55 compared to the day before at 94, but it was better than walking around in the hot sun!

This is where the first issue of the Desseret News was printed.

The kids were all able to help print a copy of the first issue ever made. Jamesy liked it so much that he said he wants to be a news paper man.

One of their favorite things to do yesterday was throw rocks in the water and make big splashes. I'm sure the Utah pioneer children did that, right?

Another thing they really enjoyed was the small playground villiage that they could play in.

The school house was also a big hit. It was awesome spending time with our California relatives! We love you Cox Family!

Legos

This Lego jet took Jamesy and I a very, very, very long time to build. It took so long that after about two hours into it Jamesy got tired and told me that I could finish it. It went much faster after Jamesy left to do something else because while he was working with me he put every piece together under my direction. For those of you who know me well, I don't have the gift of patience in teaching little children. Once a child is over ten I do much better. The reason we were working that way is because "that is how daddy helps me"! My husband is so much more patient and is willing to take all the time in the world to finish a one on one project with either of his boys. I could learn a lot from him. I decided to do it his way and actually did pretty well. The only thing I need to learn now is letting go of something that took over three hours to make. Today, Jamesy brought the jet into me and asked if I could help him take it apart so that he could build whatever he wanted without instructions. I let him do it and even helped him take apart all of our hard work.

I can't wait until James gets home this summer, so he can take over Lego duty!

Our little Jamesy turned six this week! I can't believe it. I still have vivid memories of little Jamesy as a newborn.

This is Jamesy on his 1st birthday. I am thankful that he has developed better table manners since then.

For Jamesy's birthday we went to Ogden's Dinosaur Park. Jamesy loves to climb on everything. He is also a very stubborn child and doesn't like to listen to his mommy as well as he should. Don't you just love the sign?

Did I mention that James loves to climb on things?

Finally, an update on the Peterson Family

I just wanted you all to know that the Peterson Family is still alive. Sorry that it has taken me so long to post. I have been a little busy over the last couple of months. I decided to take another course online. Instead of taking the regular 16 week course, I decided to do it in 8 weeks. I was able to successfully complete the course with an A, but I haven't really had much time to do anything else. Needless to say, I have decided to take the summer off from school. Hopefully I will be a little better about posting from now on.

During the last two months we have been able to do a lot of fun things, despite all of my course work. Here are just a few of the things we have been doing:

James and I celebrated our 7th Anniversary on March 24th this year. I decided to spend the day in Salt Lake showing the boys where our family began. My sister, Bonnie, her kids, and my mom also joined us. My father-in-law also took me to the Olive Garden near Temple Square for lunch just like James did on our wedding day.

Jamesy participated in Syracuse's Tiny Hoops. It was very entertaining to watch 5 and 6 year olds try to play an organized game of basketball.

The "Durham Sisters" were able to finally get their sister picture taken for our sisters frame!

Alex celebrated his 4th birthday on April 9th. He had a knights themed party that was a lot of fun. I can't believe that my baby is 4!

We visited Utah's Hogle zoo with my Brother, Doug, and his son, and my sister, Bonnie, and her kids.

Alex loved the baby giraffe.

Alex started T-ball. This is his very first time participating in sports. He is so excited that he finally gets to play after watching James play sports for two years.

After my class ended I decided that we all needed a vacation. We stayed a week with James's brother, Bryce, and his family in the Phoenix area. It was nice to take some time to relax by their pool for awhile. We traveled there and back with James's parents.

We were also able to go to our first Major League Baseball game while we were there.

We saw the Arizona Diamond Backs and the Philadelphia Phillies play. Thanks Bryce and Jackie for the fun visit!

James is still deployed, but we are hoping to have him back home in July. Since we are currently homeless, I hope to find us a house in Rapid City before he gets back. Our plans are not definent, but we might be moving down to Texas by the end of the year. The Air Force is always an adventure!
